Below is what Josh had to say about “The Ballad Of Yaya”."When we all got together to record PersonA in New Orleans, it was damn exciting. After many years of being a band and everything that comes with it, I feel like we were ready for a rebirth. Into what, we did not know, but the underlying feeling was there. That silent feeling made us really reach together. We inspired each other. We struggled together. We dreamt together. BUT ultimately, we worked hard and succeeded together. As we always have. During the first three weeks of writing and revisiting, we amassed approximately 40+ songs to wade through to construct the album. You begin to feel like Richard Dreyfuss in Close Encounters of the Third Kind. You’ve built the mashed potato mountain out of creativity but what does it mean? To me, The Ballad of Yaya, embodies the meaning of this album. It has many faces. It is harmonically thick and rich. Adventurous and ambitious. I really think it is one of the most interesting songs we have ever made. A zoomed out projection of who we were as a band, who we are now as a band, and where we can go as a band.
