●Maxïmo Parkは2020年2月26日にニュー・アルバム『Nature Always Wins』をリリースすることをアナウンスした。『Nature Always Wins』は自己の概念、バンドとしてのアイデンティティ、そして全体としての人類のそれに焦点を当てた、ある種の考察のような作品である。アルバムのタイトルはネイチャー vs ナーチャー（生まれつきか育ちか）の議論に基づいている。ここでは時間、視点、環境の影響下で変化が可能かどうかが議論される。もしくは、私たちが自身の遺伝に縛られる場合、私たちは誰であり、誰になりたいのか、そして私たちはそれを制御できるのか、と尋ねられる。洗練されたスリーピースの編成となり、Smith、Lloyd、Englishの三人は2019年の夏に曲を書き始めた。あわせて、ミュージシャン兼プロデューサーという別種の4人目のメンバーを探した。そこにフィットしたのがアトランタのグラミー受賞プロデューサー、Ben Allen（Animal Collective、Deerhunter）で、彼はバンドの自由な演奏／制作を容認した。一方、予想し得なかったのは、ロックダウンの為にその自由が奪われてしまったことだ。しかし、バンドは技術の進歩を最大限に活用。ニューカッスル／リバプールのバンドと、海を越えたアトランタのAllenとの間で、リアルタイムのレコーディング・セッションが行われることとなった。
●Maxïmo Parkは2000年にイギリスのニューカッスル・アポン・タインで結成された。現在のメンバーはPaul Smith（Vo）、Duncan Lloyd（G）、Tom English（Dr）の3人。『A Certain Trigger』（2005年／英アルバム・チャート15位）、『Our Earthly Pleasures』（2007年／英アルバム・チャート2位）、『Quicken The Heart』（2009年／英アルバム・チャート6位）、『The National Health』（2012年／英アルバム・チャート13位）、『Too Much Information』（2014年／英アルバム・チャート7位）、『Risk to Exist』（2017年／英アルバム・チャート11位）と現在までに6枚のアルバムをリリースしている。『A Certain Trigger』と『Our Earthly Pleasures』はイギリスでゴールド・ディスクを獲得。『A Certain Trigger』はマーキュリー・プライズにもノミネートされている。
