Marissa Nadlerはニュー・アルバム『The Path Of The Clouds』をBella Union/Sacred Bonesよりリリースする。9枚目のソロ・アルバムとなるこの作品は、彼女のディスコグラフィーの中でも最も冒険的で、歌詞も大きく変化。メロディックに洗練された楽曲のコレクションとなった。2020年、パンデミックの開始とともに家に閉じ込められたNadlerは、曲を書くことに没頭。そして、変容、愛、神秘主義、殺人についての素晴らしい一連の楽曲と共に戻ってきた。現実と空想の境界線を曖昧にし、過去と現在の間を自由に移動しながら、この深く個人的な11曲を使って、彼女は音と感情、両面の新しい風景を探求する。Nadlerは自宅で曲の骨格をレコーディングし、それを、ハーピストのMary LattimoreやSimon Raymonde（Cocteau Twins、Lost Horizons）といったコラボレーター達に送付。マルチインストゥルメンタリストのMilky Burgessがアルバム全体に複雑ながらもメロディックなパワーを加え、Jesse Chandler（Nadlerのピアノ教師で、Mercury Rev/Midlakeのメンバー）が木管楽器とピアノをプレイ。また、シンガーソングライターのEmma Ruth Rundle（「Turned Into Air」のギター・ソロ）とBlack MountainのAmber Webber（「Elegy」のヴォーカル）もゲスト参加。Lingua Ignota、Battles、Lightning Bolt等との仕事で知られるSeth Manchesterがミックスをおこない、アルバムは完成した。
