Allison Crutchfieldは10代の頃より音楽活動を始め、姉妹でもあるKatie CrutchfieldとP.S. EliotやBad Bananaといったポップパンク / インディロック・バンドを結成した。その後、Katie CrutchfieldはWaxahatchee、Allison CrutchfieldはSwearin’を、それぞれスタートさせる。フィラデルフィアをベースに活動をするSwearin’は、2011年にデモEP『What A Dump』をリリース。2012年にはデビュー・アルバム『Swearin’』、2013年にはセカンド・アルバム『Surfing Strange』をリリースし、メディアから高い評価を獲得している。一方、Allison Crutchfieldはソロとしての活動も開始。2014年のファースト・ソロEP『Lean In To It』を経て、当ソロ・デビュー・アルバム『Tourist In This Town 』を完成させた。『Tourist In This Town 』はフィラデルフィアのUniform RecordingでJeff Zeigler（Kurt Vile、Steve Gunn他）によってレコーディングされた。
