1990年代、Screamin' Jay HawkinsはBizarre Recordsから楽曲を発表。『Black Music for White People』（1991年）、『Stone Crazy』（1993年）、『Somethin' Funny Goin' On』（1994年）と3枚のアルバムを同レーベルよりリリースしているが、当『Are You One Of Jay's Kids?』は、この1990年から１994年にかけてのBizarre Records時代にリリースされた楽曲を完全コンパイルしたアルバムとなる。収録曲は全てオリジナルのマスターテープよりリマスターされ、レアな写真等をフィーチャーした16ページのブックレットも付加。「I Put a Spell on You」のダンス・ヴァージョンも収録されている。Screamin' Jay Hawkinsは50年以上のレコーディング・キャリアを持ち、「I Put a Spell on You」のリリース時にその注目は集まるが、多くの名曲が生み出された90年代もメモラブルで重要な時であった。
