Since Boxer Rebellion emerged in the early noughties, the band has been through enough scrapes to send lesser mortals heading to the dull safety of the nearest call centre, but this London-based four-piece persevered and finally reaped the rewards.

Hopes were high when they signed to Alan McGee's Universal-funded Poptones label and released their debut album, 2005's 'Exits,' but they were left stranded when that imprint went under. The band took up day jobs and recorded the follow up themselves. iTunes made 'Evacuate' its first global single of the week, breaking the band in the States and helping 'Union' became one of the very few albums by an unsigned act to enter the Billboard Top 100.

At the time, download-only albums were ineligible for the UK Top 40, so the Boxers received scant recognition in Britain. Yet destiny had not finished with them, for at a Los Angeles showcase gig, the group was spotted by film makers seeking a band to perform in Drew Barrymore rom-com 'Going the Distance.'
